An Emergency Management Coordinator job is available with The City of Fort Worth Fire Department. The Fire Department is seeking a highly qualified Emergency Management Coordinator to coordinate and supervise emergency management and homeland security operations during natural or man-made emergencies and disasters, pandemics, acts of terrorism and special events including program activities and community preparedness. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining emergency operations plans and community wide warning tools and systems; ensuring emergency operations center readiness; developing and managing the Emergency Management division budget; representing the City in regional, state and national boards, committees, roundtables and forums; and providing expert testimony for state and congressional hearings related to emergency management, homeland security, hazard mitigation and community resiliency. The Emergency Management Coordinator oversees state-funded grant programs such as the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) programs.
The Emergency Management Coordinator also manages a team of emergency management, public education, administrative personnel, as well as the volunteer Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) group.
This position responds to actual emergencies, disasters and/or special events either in the field or the Emergency Operations Center and is subject to call back and after-hours work. In addition, the Emergency Management Coordinator may be called upon to present complex information, situations and data to management staff, the City Council and the community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Homeland Security or related field
Five years of emergency management or disaster response experience. Also preferred, but not required, is a graduate degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Homeland Security, Business Administration or related field.
Valid Texas Driver's License
Possession of, ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid technician level amateur radio license.
Preferred Qualifications:
A graduate degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Homeland Security, Business Administration or related field.
Experience managing large-scale projects or initiatives
At least three years of managerial experience
At least three of experience as an Emergency Management Coordinator
Certified Emergency Manager® (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM)
Certified Texas Emergency Managers (TEM) through the Emergency Management Association of Texas (EMAT)
Completion of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Professional Development Series courses: IS-139; IS-230; IS-235; IS-240; IS-241; IS-242; and IS-244
Prior experience using SharePoint, social media, weather monitoring systems
Local government work experience
Emergency operations center facility design experience, including planning; designing; securing agreements, support and funding; and implementing a new build and/or large-scale renovation
Bilingual communication
Completion of the following command level National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-701, IS-702, IS-703, IS-704, IS-706, IS-800, G-300 and G-400.

Medical Program
The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.
The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.
The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).
• Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans.

Vacation
Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.
Holidays
Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.
Wellness Program
The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
