Position Summary:  Manages all patient care functions on an assigned unit/shift.  Ensures that quality patient care is provided per defined standards of practice.  Provides direct patient care based on the nursing process and individual patient needs.  Provides families of patients with emotional support, information, and guidance related to the treatment plan.  Educate patients and families on areas of health and  fitness.','!*!Requirements:    A minimum of an Associate Degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.  Appropriate state licensure, specialized professional credentialing, and other formal education as needed.  Registered Nurse competency is validated by the Competency Based Orientation (CBO) and designated annual competency validation for department.
 

Education:
A minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is required.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is preferred.  Effective May 1, 2014, all new-hire  Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within two years of hire and complete an approved BSN program within five years of hire.
 
*Effective September 1, 2017, current BLS through the American Heart Association, or a previously approved provider, will be required before
employment. 
 

Requirements: 
A minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.  Appropriate state licensure, specialized professional credentialing and other formal education as needed.  Registered Nurse competency is validated by the Competency Based Orientation (CBO) plan.  May provide additional information related to competencies at higher levels.  Maintains designated yearly competencies by unit.  Maintains certifications according to specific unit requirements; i.e., BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.   Demonstrates a strong belief and behaviors consistent with the Saint Joseph HealthCare Mission and Core Values (Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence).
 
Certifications:
BLS, KBN License.

Language:
Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the Associate Handbook and all hospital policies.
